Hi, I’m Natalie Roman. I have lived in South Oklahoma City and attended OKCPS my whole life from Parmalee Elementary to Webster Middle School, and ending at Southeast High School. I am very proud to have gone on to the University of Oklahoma where I earned my degree in Computer Sciences and certifications to become a software engineer. I also have a certification in Legal and Administrative services from Metro Technology Center.
As a lifelong OKCPS student and South OKC resident, I know what it is like to struggle to navigate the system and to have limited exposure to opportunities when it comes to education and higher learning. I also saw firsthand how the pandemic changed classrooms and how technology, including AI, can be both helpful and overwhelming.
Many students in Oklahoma City Public Schools have not had the chance to represent themselves. We often focus on figuring out our own paths and supporting our own families so much that our experiences and our needs are rarely part of the larger conversation when decisions are made at every level of government. For far too long, young voices, student voices, Latino voices, have been left out of the conversation. I am running for school board to be in those rooms to bring the perspective of students who are actually living the classroom experience today, to bring the perspective of Latino voices and to advocate for our future.
I believe every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and ready to explore their passions. I want our schools to be places where kids can grow, ask questions, and feel confident in themselves. I want teachers to have every support possible and families to be in the conversations about their schools. I want to help grow more community leaders out of District 7 and make Oklahoma City public schools stronger so that my future kids and every student can thrive.
For me, this isn't about politics. It is about people. It's about our students and our teachers.
I am running for school board to bring a perspective rooted in real experience. I will listen, connect, and advocate for students, teachers, and families so that every child in District 7 has the opportunity to succeed.
When not running for school board, I enjoy spending time with my family, learning, coding, and spending time with my animals.
